How to Organize Your Homework

20121228_141126 Students have a lot of homework done, whether it’s during school days or during school breaks, even. Homework here, homework there, homework everywhere! It is frustrating at times just thinking about all the homework that has to be done, and once you have done said homework, relief flows through you like a waterfall. But then on the day of submission, you can’t find your homework. You start rummaging through your bag, through the bags of your classmates, searching in desperation for your homework. And then when you can’t find it, you either rush your homework or try to copy off someone else’s. And when you can’t—or won’t—do either, you just give up. BAM. Just like that. And later on, when you’re at home going randomly through your things, you find your homework under something on your table. Or you find it in the kitchen. Or—

Yes. Frustrating, right? But it’s not the end of the world. Really—it’s just homework. But it would still be a lot easier if you organized your homework so you won’t go freaking out on everyone—including yourself—when it goes missing. How?

  • Observe. I don’t mean stare at your homework like it’s the only thing left in the world to look at. Observe it, like, what is it for? For what subject is it required? When is it due? That sort of thing. Know the details.
  • Classify your homework. Give each assignment a certain category in which you want to arrange it. It could be according to subject, literary type (essay, poem, research, etc.), due date, and so on. It’s all up to you.
  • Use resources. Once you’re done classifying, start arranging your 20121228_141303homework according to your chosen category. Use folders, paper clips, binder clips, envelopes, file cases, clearbooks, and the like to keep all your homework intact (Note: This part is important. You’re trying to organize your homework. If you can’t keep them in place, then what in the world are you doing trying to organize them? It would all just get scattered around and you would eventually go back to square one—Homework, where did you go?)
  • Place your arranged homework somewhere you can easily find it. Self-explanatory.

There you go. These are just a few tips on how to organize your homework and not have it going off somewhere you can’t find it.

And I wonder how my homework sometimes ends up in our pantry. . . .

(P.S. You don’t really need to do this if you don’t want to. Seriously.)
